lirazel: An outdoor scene from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock ([btvs] not happy)

The worst idea since having Greedo shoot first?

"Rebooting" Buffy?

With no Joss?

And no Sarah?

And supposedly there's a huge fan base just waiting to see it get rebooted?

Uh-huh.

I'll believe that when I see it.

I am trying not to think about this too much lest I get really, really, really angry.

The only reason I'm not writing a massive comment about this is because Finals Hell demands I keep studying Death of a Salesman for the moment.

However? WATCH THIS SPACE, BECAUSE OH, MY THOUGHTS ON THIS SUBJECT.

I WILL ANXIOUSLY AWAIT YOUR THOUGHTS, GIRLFRIEND.

OKAY. THOUGHTS. Mainly centered around the defense of how the Star Trek + Batman reboots have done well, which is what I see most often from the PTB talking about this:

a) Trek comparison is invalid due to TOS having been over for DECADES when the ball got rolling on JJ's movie, okay, that is just lacking in sense. BtVS ended in 2003. Just. TREK COMPARISON IS INVALID THIS IS TOO SOON TOO SOON STOP IT STOP IT. /stamps foot

b) Nolan!era Batman comparison is invalid due to one being based around a massive comic fandom that already had a long string of movies with a history of switching actors before Senor Bale et al showed up, and the other being based around seven seasons of TV with specific actors and writers attached to the entire run. Just. One of these things is not like the other. (I feel the same way about James Bond. Just. NO COMPARISON ETC ETC.)

Basically, if this turns out to be a work of merit I will honestly be surprised and delighted, but for now I am equal parts cranky and scoffing at this mythical fanbase prepared to devour a Smidgeless, Jossless Buffy. >:|
