Odds'n'Ends
+ If you haven't checked out the Bechdel Test Fic-a-Thon Masterlist, you so should, because there is much great fic there and
angearia has put in a ton of effort in compiling it. Thanks so much to everybody who has participated!
+ In not-unrelated news, there's a new fic-a-thon on the block: The NOT MY FANDOM Fest!
Obviously, hilarity ensues. Check it out!
+ And I even wrote Legend of the Seeker fic! It's probably not that funny, but I tried!
+ Also, I was kind of loopy on Benadryl at the time because somehow I'm managing to have horrible allergies and can't find my knockoff Claratin, but I think that Community was pretty glorious last night. I'll have to rewatch it to be able to tell. I do know that I have such a crush on the wonderfulness that is Donald Glover. Just sayin'.
+ Everyone has been going on and on about how good Glee was this week, so even though I stopped watching sometime during the back nine of last season, I decided to check it out anyways.
It was good, but not good enough to get me to watch again. Though Santana and Mercedes singing? GREATEST THING EVER THEY SHOULD HAVE WON.
Mike Chang is hotness defined. I always thought so, but then he was singing that song from A Chorus Line and I was like HAI THERE.
Uh, what's up with summarily dismissing Puck and bringing in that annoying new kid and trying to get us to ship him with Quinn? NO THANKS. I want the show to really go there with Quinn and Puck's relationship, and I think they could be awesome together if the writing was there. But then again, this show has some of the most inconsistent writing I have EVER SEEN, so I doubt it'll happen.
I have never, not for one moment, bought the Rachel/Finn relationship (it always seemed entirely one-sided and based on Rachel's dream of getting the popular boy, not on either of their characters) but they were hilariously awesome together. Ships should always plot and scheme together.
Brittany is awesome.
I like Kurt's relationship with his dad. It's definitely the thing about the show that feels most real.
I didn't want to murder Will this time! Of course, that's mostly because he wasn't in it much. AND I DID NOT MISS HIM I HATE YOU WILL SCHEUSTER.
Artie is a huge, huge, huge asshole. I kind of hate him a lot now.
Yeah, probably not going to start watching the show again. Though I probably will check in when The Groff or Kristen Chenoweth show up.
+ Apparently there is a meme where you're supposed to post all of your icons with female characters in them? Um, that's like 75% of my (many, many) icons. So I'm just going to link you to them at the source and you can admire them there. They're very pretty.
+ I'm sure there were some other things I'd been meaning to share, but now I've forgotten what they were. So enjoy your Friday!

+ In not-unrelated news, there's a new fic-a-thon on the block: The NOT MY FANDOM Fest!
Welcome to the first ever Not My Fandom Fest! The fest will be running from tonight, Thursday, October 14 through the weekend until sometime on Monday, October 18! Pimp to your friends! Feel free to use the banner! Tell everyone you know! We're going to have fun, guys!
We all joke about "fannish osmosis," and this comment ficathon is going to put that to the test. The object is to write a ficlet for a fandom you're not a part of based solely on what you've learned from your friends list and fandom at large. Silly, serious, the tone and approach are up to you. The only rule is that you can't write for a fandom that you have actually seen the source material for.
Obviously, hilarity ensues. Check it out!

Donald Glover is my true love. This is a fact. He has a standup special that I saw on Comedy Central, which you should absolutely catch if you can. And I will tell you why: A) He is funny. B) He passes feminist scrutiny. Which for a male standup comic? That is something special. He might not be perfect (or he might be, I don't really remember, I saw it a few months ago)--but there was never a moment where my lady-hackles raised. So. It always fills me with joy when someone I like proves themselves to be great.
In re: Glee--
Brittney is awesome. I think she's my favorite. She and Kurt. And of course Sue.
This long response that is about absolutely nothing is courtesy of the fact that I'm sick of working. I've been editing the same stupid thing for the last 4 days. I'm ready to stab myself with a red pen. Would I qualify for workman's comp, do you think?

- Glee: Puck going to juvie was the equivalent of saying "Puck left us to pursue a film career." Not cool, show. The show got a good rep this week because it was the first pretty good episode in the old school, pre-hype sense of the word that didn't break your heart with Kurt/Dad OTP-ness or have slightly problematic religious debate. And Brittany is slowly becoming the entire reason I watch this show. To Artie: "I thought you were a robot." And Artie's devolving into the "nice guy" of the show, isn't he?
- Community: While it wasn't quite as good as "Modern Warfare," I do have to share my joy in a GIF spam:
Poor Abed! But I totally loved him doing the Gary Sinise role from Apollo 13
New OTP? Or do I just begin to ship things at the drop of a hat?
- Not My Fandom Fic Fest: So much love. Adored your LotS fic! I wrote some two-bit NCIS and Smallville fic, but they weren't half as amusing as your stuff. I'm dying to do some Torchwood when I come back from work!
- Speaking of work, how is the job hunt going? Working at the office still? Bookstore? Heard from the library job? I gotta say, libraries are perfect for introverts because when you talk to other people, it's all about books! My mother loves her job as a librarian (her boss? not so much), but if you really want to go for something like that, think about library science grad school. Or you can move out to California with me and work with my Mama - they're hiring around here! We could be roomies!
- Have I mentioned how much I'm loving the Bechdel Ficathon? I have? Oh, well, I'll mention it again. I love you and Emmie for the Bechdel Test Ficathon!! Yay!
That's all I got. Gotta get ready for work.

Also! Did you see Jane Lynch on SNL? They did a Glee spoof skit. And it was horrible! Sometimes I just want to punch SNL in its collective homophobic mouth.

Glee: I'm also pretty much not watching it, but in the way that I still am, because the rest of my family do (at varying points in time) so it's on anyway. I'm pretty sure Puck will be back, those I gave Glee an odd look for the randomness. Brittany is A++, and Artie has always been a jackass, but I think he's getting worse; I scowl and walk away as soon as he shows up on screen now. I am learning to love Kurt via his relationship with Dad, though, who's pretty much the only sane adult on the show <33
Re: icons - haha, I...show my bias with icons, and usually just have women in them (or at least one to balance out the guy)? :P I love your icons, though :D

I KNOW RIGHT.
Rachel and Finn were hysterical with the scheming. "WE ARE SHOCKED. SHOCKED."
Uh, what's up with summarily dismissing Puck and bringing in that annoying new kid and trying to get us to ship him with Quinn? NO THANKS.
SOLIDARITY. IDK, I don't hate Sam, or Sam/Quinn. But dude. It's Puck and Quinn. Come now. I'm not really sure what the writers' deal with. Are they too difficult to write? I can see how that would be, and this lack of commitment to the pairing sort of fits the characters' ambivalent commitment to each other. Eh. I'm hoping this Sam/Quinn thing actually makes something HAPPEN. Sigh. I am such a breadcrumb shipper.
Artie is a huge, huge, huge asshole. I kind of hate him a lot now.
Hmm. I've seen this sentiment a lot, but I'm not sure I'm totally on board. I mean, I really don't think he's any bigger an asshole than Rachel or Puck or Quinn or Finn or Santana, etc. Possibly Artie doesn't hit my squick button in the same way.

I tried to stick it out with Glee, but I'm only going to tune in a) if I hear an episode is good from people's opinions I respect/there are no mixed reviews (kind of like this week's episode) and/or b) when The Groff graces my television again. Rachel/Jesse was one of my only reasons for sticking with the back nine and I'm still extremely bitter with the way they "resolved" that storyline.
