I had this exact same reaction at the orientation part of college. They have all sorts of things like that. And I remember one in particular--we were all in the auditorium, and one of the "games" was where they would ask if someone could do a particular thing or knew a particular bit of trivia, and you were supposed to RUN UP TO THE FRONT and grab the microphone and share. Like, anyone who knows all the lyrics to x song. RUN UP TO THE FRONT AND SING INTO A MICROPHONE. Lots of things like that. When I tried to tell people that this wasn't really comfortable for a lot of us? They, too, stared at me blankly.
