Well, I wasn't expecting that
Apparently, I've won some awards at the SunnyD Awards. Thanks so very much to those who nommed/voted! Y'all are beautiful people, and I don't deserve you.
*beams* Thank you! And congrats to the many people on my flist who took home awards as well. Such talent!
I keep finding pretty icons and not knowing if I should upload them. I mean, I do have lots of space now, but I also have quite a few shows to watch in the near future, which will invariably mean new icons to represent them. Do I really need an Anastasia icon? I mean, on what kind of post would I use it? Will people think I'm silly that I still love a cartoon as much as I do? Just how many Community icons do I need? Should I get rid of the Dean Winchester icon I never use anymore? But it's still there in the corner on my old Supernatural fics! When was the last time I used that icon of Peggy Olsen? A really long time ago, but I want to represent my Peggy-love in icon form, even if I never use it! If people who randomly visit my journal scroll through my userpics (and yes, I always scroll through people's userpics when I'm getting to know them, much like I check out people's bookshelves/DVD collections when I visit their houses for the first time) don't see that visual representation of my love of Peggy, how will they know if we're Peggy-loving soulmates? If I use a icon less than [this many] times, does that mean I should just go ahead and erase it? What's the cut-off!
*sigh* I thought once I had all this extra space the icon-angst would cease, but apparently not.

I've watched one and a half episodes of Torchwood and I'm currently downloading the pilot of The West Wing.

Also: I totally feel your icon angst. Do I really need an icon of Principle Flutie? Really? But on that once-a-year occasion when I'm talking about Principle Flutie, it just means so much more when I can include an icon of him, too.

My embarrassment squick is getting hit right now--Sam (and btw: I had totally forgotten how fond I am of Rob Lowe. I think he's very underrated, probably because he's so pretty) has gone to find hooker!Cuddy at some club where she's working even though everyone told him not to and it's about to get really, really humiliating. ACK! But I love the show so far. The dialogue is, as you said, such a joy even though I know I'm missing stuff because they talk so fast. It's much more watchable than I thought it was going to be. Very fun.
As for Torchwood, I'm very "meh" about it so far. The pilot was pretty weak and so is the first episode I'm only halfway through. I'll get back to you about it later, though.

And I'm totally getting some cartoon icons as soon as I buy more space. I was flailing today at Disneyland because I got to meet Jessie from Toy Story!! Do you know how many Mary Sue-ish bad paperback romance characters I created based on her back in high school (you probably don't, and that's a good thing. My paperback romance phase was not pretty).
Oh, and YAY YOU WON STUFF! It makes me feel smart when so many brilliant award winners are on my f-list.

And oh, the icon struggle. I figure you fill up now and get some use out of those icons you wouldn't plan to use and then when you have the new show, you can cycle them out. Because at least you used them.
I have this Belle icon for when I'm feeling pensive/strange/like my life is stuck. Or when I found some good literature. Cartoons are appropriate :D

OMG you too! They're like tiny little 100x100 pixel windows into people souls... (I also find that often I have a very specific idea as to what I want from an icon, and then I have to go *looking* for one that fits, or just beg one of my clever friends to make it for me. Because... I need it, y'know? Like this one for instance. *g*)
And yay! Torchwood! I always had a soft spot for it, quite simply because it premiered on my birthday (and somewhere I have an icon... Must go look for it). If you're curious, I've got a post here with my initial thoughts on the first 2 eps. Actually it's funny, because I never *liked* the show much during S1, but it still managed to draw me in, and now I draw hearts around the whole thing, even the most rubbish episodes. Trying to work it out, then I think it's because there's so little of it (31 episodes in all, if we count Children of Earth), which is less than the two first seasons of Buffy... So I kinda need to love everything, 'cause if I start to be picky there's hardly anything left. And I do love them (the characters, the 'verse) so very, very much, even though the stories are often rubbish.
And wow, look at me waffle. Should probably go and finish writing that Spike/Buffy scene, huh?
