OMG. I never thought about it in just those terms--taking her voice away--but you're so right that he does. One of the few areas I give Joss credit for on BtVS is that he really does say, "This is a woman and her story is important and she can be the hero of her own life." And Buffy's story is always important and so is Willow's and to a lesser extent the other women's. And that just isn't the case on AtS after S4. Before that you have Cordy and Lilah and Darla and everyone being AWESOME, and then there's death and destruction and Fred doesn't really have voice, either, does she? She's part of the men's stories. Like, I feel like that undercuts all the progress I felt he made on BtVS.
But yes, I think that the destruction of Cordy might be the single thing that makes me most mad at Joss. After the treatment of Charisma, obviously, because that matters more because she's REAL. And he didn't even treat her like a person. I am so angry right now.
Seriously, there is so much to hate on all this man's shows.
