It's a condensed run down of four different soaps over the last 20 years. I could haul out other examples, but primarily it's a result of shows trying to produce 250 shows a year and keep things always on the verge of chaos.
If you want twisted morality, one of the biggest complaints of soap fans is that one show's primary male leads/heroes are a mob boss and a brain-damaged hitman.
