Oh, Passions was crack. Serious crack. Crack even by soap standards. Seriously, there were witches, murderous clowns, murderous transgendered incestuous affairs, time travel to the Titanic, dwarf angels, mermaids, you name it. Passions was pure WTF from beginning to end with zero pretense at any redeeming value.
The gang rape storyline listed above was treated like very serious afternoon school special tretise about how rape was bad (ignore the fact that they subsequently had storylines about how the leader of the gang rape is the 'good' rapist of the lot and how though he's abused women, children, and re-raped this rape victim, we're supposed to feel very bad that the rape victim's now teenaged son beat him into unconsciousness last week.
