I actually don't watch The Office because I have the world's largest embarrassment squick. The world's largest. But I'm familiar enough with it that I'll check it out anyways!

I actually cured myself of my embarrassment squick by watching The Office UK. What I'd do is that I'd put an episode on and keep it running in the background while I did other stuff. After about three run-throughs without watching, I was finally inured to the embarrassment. Well, at least enough so that I could watch. After the UK version, the US version was cake - it's nowhere near as realistic and David Brent is in a whole other league than Michael Scott.

Five-second Penguin! Fic . . . Just for you!

Takes place shortly after the Penguin! Fic I wrote yesterday.

The albino Penguins That Be prepared for their next guests' arrival. They had figured he would appreciate getting out of a sticky situation - lllyria the god-guin was chewing his ass, or what penguins have for asses, out about his poor leadership skills leading to the death of Wesley, the penguin her shell felt such affection for. When Illyria the god-guin squawked, there was always something unearthly, unpenguin-y about her, as if squawking didn't come naturally to her, and her harangue could possibly be getting on their next guests' nerves.

The female albino penguin cautioned her brother. "Karrak," she warned. They had to be really careful with this one. It wasn't like they had a Plan C if this didn't work.

Her brother shrugged his penguin-shoulders, waved his flipper, and suddenly soft, discordant music could be heard in the white abyss of their realm. "Kaark karr," he told his sister, "Karrak." The music may be bad, but he knew from watching their next guest that the music was the key to getting his agreement. That and hair gel, but they didn't have hair gel in this particular realm, and penguins didn't necessarily have hair. How their guest got his feathers to stick up just so was beyond even the Penguins That Be.

The sister sighed, and wished for earplugs. "Kaark kaa!" She said, they might as well get this over with.

They summoned their guest, calling him into their all-white realm, while the tinny voice poured around them from a mystical sound system no one could see.

"Her name was Lola, she was a show girl . . ."
