also is it just me or is this round much more vicious than last round? i miss the pleasant competition of scully v. donna. maybe this is because the buffy kids now feel threatened or maybe all the v. buffy competitions have been fierce because her fans are fierce and i just wasn't paying attention?

I hadn't really, really noticed--but then, I haven't usually read any of the Scully comment threads. So maybe that's where it is? You're probably right, though.

i mean in the other threads the donna people stuck to their threads and the scully people to theirs and it was all about love, and this time ~they're invading mah space~ and i'm like omg no. obviously if buffy wins, which she probs will, i will vote for her, but i will not deny i will be disappointed, in part because of my stubborn i WANT MY GIRL TO WIN complex and in part because i honestly have grown to love scully more over the course of this contest, and there's something to be said about that.

sigh. i am sad she is going to lose.

The only comments I've seen in Scully threads are the ones in which someone said that there wouldn't be Buffy if it weren't for Scully, and people point out that in fact Buffy Summers was around (in film form) before Scully. Or when someone makes another comparison in the original comment to Buffy in some way. And I can see that turning ugly. (And again--I will totally take your word for it that there's more stuff going on that I haven't seen. I'm certain you're right, because you pretty much always are).

So what I think is that we just shouldn't compare. I will admit I did that, but I won't anymore, and hopefully the Buffy posts will be more of the posting-of-the-class-protector speech and the Scully posts will be more of that totally awesome .gif with the text from Mean Girls on it instead of comparisons, which are really invalid.

That's sweet and adorable and awesome. I'm feeling the same way about Bufy. There's so much love!

I do have to say--this is making me want to watch The X-Files; though I'm skeptical that I could ever love a character more than Buffy, there's always more love in my heart for awesome characters!

lol that would be me. i forgot the movie was in 1992. i do that sometimes. and i abandoned that. BUT IT WORKED IN OTHER ROUNDS. and i still maintain that scully's mainstream success allowed for, like, every other genre success ever, but i am biased.

Hahaha! That's okay, and it totally makes sense that you would think that, and I definitely think people jumped on you a bit too much for that--once you'd been corrected once, you didn't need to be a thousand times. y'know?

i mean i only got corrected... once, so maybe that was another case because it was a common sentiment in other threads and the show started later so people got confused. but deludedvision was like SCULLY EXISTED IN TV FORM BEFORE BUFFY DID and some girl jumped on her and jess was like "gurl, sit down" and yet she continued. vicious.

truth! i hope sheldon doesn't win it all. THAT WOULD BE A DAMN SHAME.

the latter. i was team buffy! i was all up on team buffy! i was like "team buffy would be great!"

... and then i spent time thinking about the ferocity that is dana scully and now i have in fact... become team scully. and will spend my spring break studying for anthropology and watching x-files.

I had to vote for Buffy because Buffy is my girl, but after Buffy (and Spike of course), Scully is my favorite character EVER, so my heart broke a little voting against her. I just think it's awesome that the Sci Fi category came down to a face-off between two of the best female characters of all time.

I cannot fully express my JOY that there are so many women in the Elite Eight. And two of them are my LOVES FOREVER Buffy and Veronica. And I also think Lorelai and Scully are super cool. And Sue is HILARIOUS.
