Obligatory "Freaking Out" post (!)

Am I freaking out with excitement over the announcement about Joss's new show?  Oh, yes.  I am.

First off, the name is fantastic.  I love the way, like with Firefly, he's picked one word with such powerful connotations (also, Ibsen, anyone?).  Second, considering that I've never seen Eliza Dushku as anyone but Faith, I'm excited to see if she can play someone else as compellingly.  Also, Tim Minear?  Great.

Wanna hear something pathetic?  I'm so ridiculously sad about the fact that I always come into fandoms late that I already registered at the forums at Dollverse and am plunging into this wholeheartedly.  Here's one I can be a part of from the beginning and not start loving and writing fic about during its last season or after it's gone off the air.  *coughfireflyveronicamarsgilmoregirlsbuffycough*

It really stinks that I don't have anyone in real life to squee with over this.  But y'all will do. ;)

I already can't wait.

First off, when I found out via [livejournal.com profile] 77amy77 I actually hada fit. Joss is back and it's Eliza who I adore (I loved Faith from the minute she appeared without fail) AND IT's TIM!

He just gets it and I love that our minds work the same way and clearly on the same plane as Joss' because it's something that creates two very conflicting ideas, of innocence and a creepy kind of isolation,of things being picked up as a toy.

We are the same person. I hadn't signed up yet but I was about to until I checked my e-mail and seriously I came into all of those fandoms late. Now we get to be pioneers of the fandom and that's all kinds of awesome.

I KNOW. I have no one in real life to talk about this with. No one. At All.

Oh Joss, you win at everything.

As do you for being as fannish as me about this.

Yeah, I found out via [livejournal.com profile] shamoogity who had a link to the announcement, and at first I didn't believe it. Once I realized that it was actually happening, I had a fit, too.

e just gets it and I love that our minds work the same way and clearly on the same plane as Joss' because it's something that creates two very conflicting ideas, of innocence and a creepy kind of isolation,of things being picked up as a toy. Exactly. All of that was what I was thinking!

You should totally sign up at the forums. It's fun already.

Now we get to be pioneers of the fandom and that's all kinds of awesome. Yay!

Oh Joss, you win at everything. Oh, he so does.

As do you for being as fannish as me about this. Heehee! I was thinking the same thing about you!

I'm signed up under my ff.net name which is avaleighfitzgerald because I'm lazy like that. Having not really had use for boards I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. At all. So yeah.

Pioneering a fandom is something I've always wanted to do. I guess I was one of the first wave of Bones writers but all my early stuff is ridiculously bad (and has now been deleted because seriously, it should come with a warning that your brain will ache when you read it. Have you ever done that? Read old fic or your first fic? Mine was a the first and last House fic I've ever written and it was House/Cameron and as clichéd as hell. Suffice to say that got cut./tangent)

Heehee! I was thinking the same thing about you!
The same person I say, the same.

Two questions for you.

1- The VM thankyou!fic, is there anthing in particular you'd like? I kind of need a prompt because I'm driving myself in circles because I keep writing babble.

2- Remind me again, when're you over here next year?

I'll look for you at the forums, then (I'm Lirazel, by the way). Boards are fun. Just jump into the conversation when you have something to contribute. Or even when you don't.

Have you ever done that? Read old fic or your first fic? Considering that I first started writing fic when I was, let's see, fourteen, most of it is so horrifically bad that I can't even look at it without blushing. Horrifically, horrifically bad. It was only about two, two and a half years ago that it started getting bearable.

Heehee! I'm amused that you wrote House/Cameron for some reason. But House is a fun show.

1. Okay. Since it's driving you that crazy, let's go with LoVe? If that's okay?

And here's a couple of lyrics, if you want--both Patty Griffin because I've been listening to her pretty much nonstop lately and she's the queen of angst:

“We go straight for the thunder, straight for the rain
Love leaves a mark and, life leaves a strain
Back in the saddle, again and again”

-- “Crying Over,” Patty Griffin

“Open your eyes, boy, I think we are saved
Open your eyes, boy, I think we are saved
Let's take a walk on the bridge
Right over this mess
Don't need to tell me a thing, baby
We've already confessed
And I raised my voice to the air
And we were blessed
It's hard to give and it's hard to get
Everybody needs a little forgiveness.”

-- “Forgiveness,” Patty Griffin

Helpful at all?

2. The end of May, all of June, the beginning of July. Ish. It'll be eight weeks, but I don't have the exact dates yet.
