Something I hate: Entitlement. All people are entitled to respect, justice, the beauty of the world, and the things they need to survive--we could do with more people feeling entitled to those things. But people who feel entitled to special treatment make my blood boil.

When I was little and first accessed online communication (and I'm specifically not saying the internet because it wasn't the Internet, it was my dad showing me BBSes on Fidonet) I was so taken with emoticons. I carefully copied down the ones I saw and made up my own. They do have a special charm that is distinct from emojis. <3

I was completely prepared to accept that you were declaring your love for the ears of elephants, the animal. But the pastry is good too! I know they're also called palmiers but the name that sounds like their "real" name to me is orejas. That's what they're called in Spanish and I first encountered them in bakeries where Spanish was spoken.
