I am unsure about this new lj layout. I'm absolutely mad about the header (made by katekat1010 and for more awesomeness of the banner variety, check out my new gun banner of awesome in my profile, made by the very generous ladyofthelog and featuring women of the kickass variety!), and I wanted a color scheme that would match it, but I didn't want a black background under my text (been there, done that, had complaints about others not being able to read it). But I'm not sure about the overall affect.

What do y'all think? Is it awesome? Tacky?

I think also that the first strip of color, the one right below the header, is a different shade than the rest of the red on the stylesheet (or it could just look that way because it's close to the darker colors above? Am I going crazy?). I'm wondering if someone who's way better with CSS than I am would maybe tell me how to change it so that it matches the darker color below? Adding headers is about the only thing I know to do with CSS, and even that takes a lot of trial and error.

Love the new layout. The black background is kind of cool too, with the finger prints. The 'gun' banner is fantastic, too. I've always rather enjoyed the presentation of your user profile and the accompanying banners.

Very impressive! The header is absolutely stunning, where is the text from?
I think you are right about the first red band, it looks slightly different because of the different colour on top. It doesn't bother me , though.
I don't see fingerprints, I just see a smattering of whitish tiny dots; is my screen set for showing darker colours thus eating up the fingerprint shapes?
Frightening idea: it would mean that I've been posting weird coloured cards for two years...

I really have no idea where the text is from, but I shall ask and find out.

It's mostly whitish dots, but there are a few little lines that are roughly horseshoe shaped that could resemble fingerprints. I can barely see them here at work, though they're clear as day at home.

Actually I see them better on this other screen--which is not as big as the other--so I guess it's just one of those things...

I absolutely love the header! I like the black background well enough, but I'm not sure how you could change the red stripes to better match the header.

I'm pretty sure that red under the header is the same as all the other reds in the layout. FWIW.

Otherwise, it's very pretty. The white/black contrast is pretty, you know, stark, but I'm assuming that's what you were going for. :)

Yeah, it must just be the contrast making it look different.

Basically, I was just going for a layout that would A) match my header and B) not have white-on-black text. Both of which are accomplished! The layout itself isn't as aesthetically pleasing as I'd like, but it's what I could find.

I'm a sucker for red-on-black and I think it's angsty and lovely :p

It's the same shade! It just pops out brighter because of the text and the above colors.

I am currently wearing red and black: the two colors I wear most often. My room is red with (very) dark wood. I'm a fan of red and black myself.
