lirazel: An outdoor scene from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock ([spn] back to work)

Just when I didn't think I could love Supernatural any more....

Along comes "Bad Day at Black Rock." If I say that this is my favorite Supernatural episode of all times, is that going too far? Perhaps so. But I was hugging myself with happiness throughout the episode. I loved every single moment of it.

Prepare for a long, rambling stream-of-consciousness fangirl squeeing.

“My first sawed-off!  I made it myself.  Sixth grade.”  Oh, Dean.  Quit making violence and guns and such so sexy to me.  And quit making me fall in love with you every six seconds.

I also adore that John kept Sam’s soccer trophy but Dean’s gun.  Because that’s just the two boys—Sammy trying so hard to be normal but Dean just knowing who he is and making no apologies for it.  I love my boys.

When the guy opened the box and said “Huh?” I yelled “Mal!  There’s  a naked girl in the box!”  Except that this guy’s “Huh?” wasn’t nearly as good as Mal’s “Huh?”I’m in a serious I-miss-Firefly funk lately.  Maybe it will prompt fic.

Anyways, “Shoulda blacked out their plates before they parked in front of the security camera.”  Dean, you should say everything in a sing-song voice.  Because it makes me giggle.

“Is that a rabbit’s foot?”
“I think it is.”
And then Dean and his “Huh?” that is every bit as good as Mal’s.  Dean should say “Huh?” all the time.

I have never loved anything as much as I loved the bad luck/good luck fight in those guys’ apartment.  With the gun misfiring and bullets ricocheting and the books falling on that guy’s head and the music!

Dean and his scratch-and-wins!  Looooove!

Okay, I’ve now discovered the worse way to die ever.  The beer bottle and the skewering?  That was completely disgusting.  The sound that it made!  I’m going to hear that sound in my dreams for years.

When is Bobby going to officially join the show and quit being a guest star?  The world needs more Bobby.

The picture when they win at the restaurant?  Dean smiling so big and pretty and Sam’s face all screwed up and unhappy?  Love.

Dean eating an ice cream sundae and then getting a brain freeze?  Love.

The boys leaning in to watch the girl they don’t know is Bella as she walks away?  Love.

Sammy wiping out as they run out the restaurant and Dean’s “Wow.  You suck.”?  Love.

(I adore the way this episode was shot.  All my love to the director.)

The dumb henchman drinking and looking at the picture of him and his partner?  Love.

Sammy wiping out yet again and Dean and his “Sam, you okay?” without even turning around?  Love.

Bobby and his “Just look out for your brother, ya idgit”?  Love.

Puppy and his “I lost my shoe”?  May be the one time I’ve loved Sam more than Dean.  Like, in that second, I thought, “Forget Dean.  I want to take Sammy home and take care of him.”  That probably won’t happen again.

Sam needing to scratch his nose the second Dean tells him not to?  Love.

Sam and the air conditioner and the fire and the crazy?  Love.

Dean and his “Turn around” post-it note?  Love.

Puppy being so sad the whole episode and his frustrated little boy face?  Love.

Dean and his stealing the rabbit’s foot right out from under Bella’s nose?  Love.

Dean and his “I am Batman”?  Love times infinity!

Dean’s concern about Sam when he gets hit?  Love.

Dean and his explosive, little kid temper tantrum “Son of a bitch!”  Love.

I like Bella okay.  She’s a million times better than Ruby.  But I’m not all gung-ho for her joining the cast.  Maybe a few episodes, but then she should go bye-bye.

I’ve decided that happiness is what happens in the background during phone calls.  Dean trying to count up how much money they’ve won?  Puppy losing his shoe?  Genius.

You know what?  I have a new person to love.  His name is Ben Edlund, and he wrote this episode.  Guess what he also wrote?  “Trash” and “Jaynestown” from Firefly!  The guy who is responsible for “This must be what going mad feels like” and Inara pwning YoSafBridge is also responsible for “I lost my shoe” and “I am Batman.”  Seriously.  I want to marry him.  (He also wrote some episodes of Angel, but I haven’t seen that yet, so I can’t testify to his awesomeness any other way.)

And now for some thoughts on Friday Night Lights.

Things I loved:
-Tyra's speech about Landry to his dad when she realizes for the first time just how much she cares about him.
-The fact that Smash (who is the Wallace-in-Season-3 of the show now) actually showed up.
-Grace.  I love babies.
-Buddy being the one to realize that they need Coach so very badly.
-Tim going to church.  So, so cute.
-Coach's decision at the end and watching him watch the Panthers and his family and the town fall apart in front of his eyes.

Things I hated:
-Matty hitting Smash.  Because I know that the boy is going through a lot, but he and Smash are friends, and it's the stupid coach's fault, not Smash's.
-Jason's decision (this will go so horribly, horribly badly)
-JULIE! Gah!  I cannot even defend her anymore!  I can't rationalize anything that she does.  I was trying to be understanding!  But no!  There is no way to explain this kind of behavior away!  Dear God, please help poor Tami deal with this.

So yeah.  I can't wait till next week's episode.

I love television way too much.

“My first sawed-off! I made it myself. Sixth grade.” Oh, Dean. Quit making violence and guns and such so sexy to me. And quit making me fall in love with you every six seconds. Oh, Dean. I cackled wildly with glee at that part--he's just so cute sometimes.

I have never loved anything as much as I loved the bad luck/good luck fight in those guys’ apartment. With the gun misfiring and bullets ricocheting and the books falling on that guy’s head and the music! Hahaha, wasn't that the best? I think I cracked a few ribs from laughing so hard--that rabbit's foot was supposed to be evil and everything, but it sure was hard to remember it.

And I know what you mean about that fork. As soon as I saw the beer bottle rolling across the floor, I got a little wary. Then I caught a glimpse of the fork, knew the guy was dead meat, and said,"I think now would be an excellent time to go get a glass of water." Unfortunately, I neglected to mute the TV and....UGHHHH.

Puppy and his “I lost my shoe”? May be the one time I’ve loved Sam more than Dean. Like, in that second, I thought, “Forget Dean. I want to take Sammy home and take care of him.” That probably won’t happen again. We are so alike sometimes it's scary, because that's EXACTLY what I thought. Lol, wow.

I agree with everything you said about this episode. It was just...*squees* This ep is right up on par with "Tall Tales".

And dude, that thing about the writer is so cool! I hope that guy writes more episodes soon, because he's amazing.

I love when Dean's little boyness shows and he's just gleeful and cute and adorable.

Hahaha, wasn't that the best? I think I cracked a few ribs from laughing so hard--that rabbit's foot was supposed to be evil and everything, but it sure was hard to remember it. Amen!

I got a little wary. Me, too, to be honest.

and said,"I think now would be an excellent time to go get a glass of water." I don't know why this struck me as hilarious, but it did.

We are so alike sometimes it's scary, because that's EXACTLY what I thought. Lol, wow. HAHAHA! I love that we were thinking the same thing. It makes me very happy.

Tall Tales was the first prank one, right? That one was lots of fun.

Yeah, isn't the writer great? I'm so thankful for my mad impulse to imdb everyone. It made my day. And I totally agree that he should write mucho episodes. Because he's awesome.

Coach's decision at the end and watching him watch the Panthers and his family and the town fall apart in front of his eyes. I concur with everything, though I do thing Matt not justified per se, but pushed if you will. That was so sad. I've already said this three times to you already, but I loved how he went from okay, maybe they're okay w/o me, to OH HELL NO.

Gah, I am coming back to read the SPN when I have seen it. So many shows, so little time.

Right--not justfied, but pushed. Exactly.

I've already said this three times to you already, but I loved how he went from okay, maybe they're okay w/o me, to OH HELL NO. I don't tire of hearing about it, though. And I know I'm always like Give-Connie-Britton-her-Emmy-right-now, but in this episode, it was all about Kyle Chandler and the look on his face.

Funny story? I've now gotten my mama addicted to the show. She thinks it's awesome.

So many shows, so little time. So true.

Okay, I'm going to say this again. GET OUT OF MY BRAIN!

When the guy opened the box and said “Huh?” I yelled “Mal! There’s a naked girl in the box!” Except that this guy’s “Huh?” wasn’t nearly as good as Mal’s “Huh?”. I’m in a serious I-miss-Firefly funk lately. Maybe it will prompt fic.
I thought the exact same thing (it's not in my summary but I was thinking it.) I miss Mal. I'm going to watch some Firefly later just to dispel the funk. And write fic! Fic is always good (the Sam/Mac fic is up btw)

Oh, I love SPN far too much.

I think we're sharing a brain. Like really. Because we think too much alike.

I miss Mal, too. What an incredible character in every way. When I get through with my VM fic and my FNL fic and then write another Lit fic, Firefly is next on the list.

How can anyone not watch SPN?
