Hello and happy Yuletide! Thanks for choosing one of my fandoms and thanks in advance for the story! I always find that the writing is the most enjoyable, rewarding part of Yuletide and I hope you feel the same way.
The prompts are here purely for your convenience and to get the plot bunnies stirring. If none of them appeal to you, it's fine to go in a different direction.
For the shippy requests, it is totally fine to include sexual content as long as it's not just porn without plot. Porn rooted in plot or in characterization is my preference if you want to write porn at all. But porn is by no means necessary--I will read any rating at all.
I love canon divergence, but please no AUs that change the setting--I don't want to read stuff set in high school or coffee shops or with superheroes or whatever.
DNWS: PWP, character-bashing, infidelity, "onscreen" rape/non-con (dubcon of the shag-or-die/sex pollen or we're-forced-to-have-sex-due-to-circumstances are okay if it's between requested ships), AUs that change the setting (no high schools, coffee shops, or superheroes, please!), unmitigated fluff (some fluff is fine, but please temper it with other things), humiliation, broad humor, OOC, baby fic (meaning fic that focuses on the ship having/adopting a child. Hodel, Perchik, Chava, Tzeitel
I probably should have requested the 1971 film, but I made a mistake during nominations. As far as differences between the musical and the film, there aren't many, but if they crop up, go with whichever you prefer. The only one I care about is the fleshed-out proposal in the film. But again, if you really want to go with the stage show canon, that's fine.
My first choice for this fandom is anything at all about Hodel and Perchik falling in love. The proposal scene in the film is my favorite proposal scene from any form of media ever, so that should give you some idea of what I'm into with this dynamic. I mean, it's got to be so frustrating being in love with this guy who can only see anything through the lens of class struggle, but also Hodel clearly loves how idealistic and committed Perchik is. And I believe he would never have fallen for her (certainly not enough to ask her to marry him) if she wasn't as smart as he was and at least open to his political priorities. So I want to watch two revolutionaries (or, really, a revolutionary and a potential revolutionary) fall in love with both their brains and their hearts.
Ideally, I'd love this to be set during the canon, but if you want to write something that is set after the play/movie but with some insight into how they came to fall in love, I'd enjoy that too. If you want to alter the show's timeline so that Perchik is with them longer so that he and Hodel can get to know each other better, I'd love that.
I also adore all the other girls and their love interests, so something that looks at the three different couples would be wonderful too. If you don't want to write something shippy: sister!fic would be great! I love all the girls, so anything about the complicated bonds of sisterhood, about learning to understand each other even when you're so different, about their differing relationships to their Jewishness, that sort of thing would make me really happy.
Some prompts:
+ What is it about Hodel that initially catches Perchik's attention? I feel confident that it's got to be something to do with her impressing him with her thoughtfulness, but I would love to see that up close.
+ How does Hodel really feel about this random guy who's living with them? Does she think he's full of it? Is she impressed right away by his passion? Is he especially great interacting with her little sisters?
+ In a world of such limitations on interactions between unmarried men and women, how do they find time to get to know each other?
+ Has Hodel read some political stuff before/did she have political opinions before they met?
+ An AU where Hodel is also a revolutionary and they meet in Kiev (or wherever), but she still grew up in Anatevka
+ Maybe something from the pov of Shprintze and/or Bielke about watching their older sisters fall in love
+ Something that compares/contrasts the three oldest sisters' romantic arcs. Seo Dan, Gu Seung-Jung
JUSTICE 4 SEO DAN! My ideal fic for this fandom is a re-write where Seung-Jung lives and Dan gets to be happy and loved and adored. Usually I am 100% for any ending where a woman ends up single and happy, but in this particular case, Dan is so hungry to be loved in a romantic way and I just want to see her satisfied in that way. I'm wide open to however you want to approach it so long as it's mostly focused on Dan and how great she is. I especially think it would be nice to see Seung-Jung openly adoring Dan and her being really unsure how to deal with that--she craves it, it's exactly what she wants, but she's never been in that position before so she has no clue how to openly react--plus, she's always been very emotionally closed-off and has to learn to open up.
(When I think of Seo Dan, I think of a quote from Norwegian Wood: “I was always hungry for love. Just once, I wanted to know what it was like to get my fill of it — to be fed so much love I couldn’t take any more. Just once.”)

+ AU where Dan and Seung-Jung meet in different circumstances (maybe he's trying to con her? Maybe they meet in Russia? The possibilities are endless)

Costis Ormentiedes, Kamet
There was just flat-out not enough Costis and Kamet in RotT and there was tons of room to speculate on what exactly they were up to during the bulk of the book. The book left me hungry for stories about my beloved boys. I do ship it like burning and would be super happy for shippy fic, but if you want to keep them as platonic life partners, that would be fine. I just need them Hopelessly Devoted, you know?
This is picky, but: if you do write something shippy, I'd rather it not be established relationship? I want to see them get together! I want to see them figure out that they're in love and take the first steps towards a relationship! There are so many directions that could go, so go wherever the writing takes you!
To bring up the dubcon issue again: I would be fine with a backstory where Kamet has been sexually abused (I mean, he's a pretty slave--it wouldn't be surprising if it happened) as long as it's in the context of hurt/comfort or healing with Costis. Kamet revealing his abuse and he and Costis navigating what it means for them would be great. No explicit Nahuseresh/Kamet, please.
Some prompts:
+ Any kind of missing scene from canon would be great, the shippy-er the better
+ An AU where they meet when Kamet is in Attolia the first time. At this point, Costis is just some random soldier who isn't aware of his own potential and does not have to put up with the petulance of kings. How do things go down?
+ An AU where Nahuseresh doesn't escape during QoA. What happens to Kamet?
+ How does Kamet feel about Costis's relationship with Gen? I don't mean in a jealousy way, I mean: does he see that Gen's endless picking on Costis is coming from love or does he misinterpret that? (Protective!Kamet clashing in his very controlled way with Gen would be pretty fantastic, don't you think? Especially if it ends with them understanding each other.)
+ AU where Costis actually was also a slave (field-hand brought into the house because he's pretty, like in Kamet's lie) and he and Kamet fall in love and run away together (or run away together and fall in love. Order doesn't matter)
+ Fic from an outsider POV (Gen, maybe?) where someone figures out that Kamet and Costis are in love before they figure it out themselves.
+ What if someone (anyone) actually did offend the gods?
+ Tell me about their sex life. (Costis seems about a 4/5 on the Kinsey scale to me and probably has more experience with men; I read Kamet as pretty straight-up bi, but he hasn't ever had to confront his attraction to men until he meets Costis) But don't only tell me about their sex life. (By which I mean, no PWP.)
I did not request this, but I would also enjoy a Costis-focused Costis/Gen/Irene OT3.
