I did not expect to cry that much over The Good Place finale. I hadn't been as impressed with it for a while as I was at the beginning, but I kept watching it because I was still so in love with the characters. But wow. That finale was so moving and I haven't cried that much while watching anything in a very long while.

(The use of "Spiegel im Spiegel" was an attack on me personally.)

It is! I don't feel like the show stayed at its very best through its whole run, but it started off strong and then gave us a satisfying finale, and I can't think of many shows that manage that. Everyone involved should be proud of it.

I was pretty down on the season as a whole, but I low-level sobbed through nearly the entire episode. Every time I thought I was done, something else would happen to set me off. Jason! Tahani's parents apologizing to her! CHIDI!!! A great finale to a really, really uneven season.

It really showed that the characters were the heart of the show and that the writers understood who the characters were and what a satisfying end for them would be. Which almost never happens with finales. I'm happy.

I started crying when Janet realized what Jason was about to do, and I basically only stopped when Chidi and Jason went through the door because I had to pause the episode to go meet friends for dinner. I was ugly sobbing like I haven't ugly-sobbed in a while. I've also been lukewarm about the last few seasons compared to how much I loved S1, but damn I can't remember the last time a finale hit me so hard in the feels.

Yesterday was my day of crying over media. I was just a mess. I think the general consensus is: the last season or two haven't measured up to the first couple, but they really stuck the landing, which makes up for a lot.
