First of all, I would have told the story of the first war, and I would have focused on the Black sisters. Probably with Andromeda as the main character, but using the three of them to explore everything that happened during that war.
But if I had chosen to tell the story of the second war, I would have had Hermione be the main character because, as anythingbutgrey always says, the war is about her blood.
And finally, if I had written them with Harry as the main character, the books after OoTP (which I love) would have been about THE ACTUAL WAR instead of high school love triangles and camping. Like, the Order of the Phoenix would have been fighting and smuggling muggle-borns to safety and such. I wanted a war narrative, and I didn't get it. *wistful sigh*
