You've conveyed the depth of Buffy's pain very well here. She never deals well with something she can't fight, and this is a huge issue. I can't help feeling angry at her dismissal of Spike though. It seems almost deliberately cruel, and very S6, which is probably exactly what you intended. His reaction is heartbreaking.

Unfortunately, people who love each other hurt each other all the time. The trick is finding your way back.
