I mean, this is an academic vs. emotion thing in my brain. Because I honestly don't believe an 'expanded universe' text like this can ever be 'canonical' in the sense of adding to the source text. I think it creates a new EU canon of which the source text is a part. But at the same time, these things are out there and the characters I love are being portrayed this way to the fandom at large, you know?
So even if they're not canonical, they still hurt. And the invisibilizing of Cordelia in particular -- after all that Joss put her through in the first place -- is just. Gross. And like, you know I'm not a Buffy Summers stan, but I generally -like- her more than I dislike her? And the fact that the only mention of Cordelia so far is Buffy cracking a joke about her death just. It makes me hate Buffy and that's totally irrational because it's not the character's fault. So basically Joss needs to stop being a fuckhead.
I'm not thrilled with the way Anya and Tara have been silenced, either, but that's another story.
