As this is my First Official TVD-related comment on your journal, I declare some obscure and pointless Founder's Day related festivity that really should have been canceled because most municipal budgets have been shot in this economy, and yet Mystic Falls is immune. Yay!
So, Damon girl here. Saw that coming from a mile (and a year) away - there's a post somewhere in my journal I'm too lazy to find right now predicting this very inevitability. And I also really liked Anna, probably for the same reason I like Jessica: we rarely see teen girl vampires. Bonnie and Caroline are brilliant, and I actually prefer them to Willow (never was a big Willow or Xander fan, to be honest). I also like Jeremy, and I LOVE Aunt Jenna, for some reason I can't pin down. Alaric and Damon totally need to do their own version of Supernatural at some point in the near future, and I like how Dawson's Matt and Caroline are - this show remembers it's a teen melodrama on the CW, which Buffy never exactlty was.
Was disappointed that the Elena/Damon kiss was a cop-out and it was Katharine/Damon, but I felt the Miss Mystic dance was the show's official "Okay, you can now start shipping them" announcement for Damon/Elena, which is something I never felt as welcome in the Spike/Buffy relationship on BtVS (because we needed an AR to remind us that being soulless is a bad thing, and liking Spike makes us like girls who write letters to serial killers or something).
Ian Somerhalder is now Damon. Never, ever thought he'd be anyone but Boone, and now I'm so damn proud of him for his awesome year in the Lost final season and in TVD. Go, hot boy, go!
Stefan annoys me. Never saw that one coming. Yawn.
I miss Bonnie's Gran. And I don't know if I'd have liked Elena's parents, if they were as messed up as the other Founder grown ups or whatever they're called.
You know what's one TVD relationship I kinda liked seeing and would like more of? Damon and the Sheriff, Caroline's mother. I loved how much she relied upon him and accepted him (a residual from my "boo hoo no one was nice to Spike but Joyce and Dawn and Fred EVAR!!" complex - I like people who like my boys), and they worked well together.
