I have no explanation for this fic. I never expected to ever write Riley/Sam in any capacity. Then I saw the prompt, and somehow I thought Riley, and Dru, and jungle (I always associate post-Spike Dru with jungle, even though I don't think we've any reason to think she spent all that much time in Brazil), and voila.

Also, I'm a little boggled by the sheer number of pairings implied in the fic: Riley/Dru, if you want to see it that way, plus Riley/Sam, Riley/Buffy, Spike/Dru, and Spike/Buffy. Yeesh. And Sam's the only character that even gets mentioned by name.
