Fortunately, I read the Prydain books first, so when I came to The Black Cauldron film I hated it on the grounds that it was WRONG over and above its many actual flaws. (I was a very book purist child, and gave very little slack for such matters as "adaptations into different media sometimes have different constraints" even for good films, lol.)
