I have not read this book but I can validate you anyway because dear god, this man is channeling the narrative voice of Anne Ross. (Don't believe me? Compare the excerpts here and here with your above examples.)

It's the worst sort of gaslighting by publishing. A dozen or so pages of that stuff and you're sitting there wondering, Is it...me? Do I just not understand how clarity and coherent thought works?
