just popping back into this discussion a month later (lol, oops) to say that I have caught myself occasionally saying aloud constructions like "me and my partner have plans that evening" I AM PART OF THE PROBLEM. I don't think I ever write like that but then there is a known phenomenon wherein talking and writing are not always the same levels of colloquial/casual
