New favorite YouTube essayist slash crush!





I'm deeply into the first one about copyright because I agree that the current system is so incredibly fucked up (though my opinions about what should be done to fix it are developing and diverge a bit from theirs).

These two essays just happen to be about Harry Potter, but they've got a lot on various bisexuality and media topics and I can't wait to watch them all. They're insightful and funny and charming and clearly a fandom person and I love them.

Have immediately bookmarked that channel! The essays seem very interesting and now I see that I'd already seen a tumblr post about the "bad bi-rep" video that made me go, "Huh, I should check that channel out!" XD Thank you for the reminder!

I watched the one about the lesbian gaze, that was very interesting and entertaining! I haven't watched any of the movies referenced in it (yet), but I know the book "The Handmaiden" is based on, and I have heard thing about the shooting of "Blue is the warmest colour"...

I'm kind of reluctant to watch that one because I actually love The Handmaiden film and I don't think it's that leering and male gaze-y, though I know a lot of people do.

Hm, the video is making a point that yes, in a way it is male gaze-y and especially their last love making scene is really staged, but that the director definitely was aware of this kind of criticism before he made the movie and might actually have made a conscious choice to film it like that.
It definitely hasn't made me want to watch the movie less. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I also have the BBC version here and have wanted to watch that forever. XD

Oh well that's good! I see a lot of dismissing of that film and I'm like, "But I like it!"
