Healer Rewatch: Episodes 5 and 6
And we have more bullet points this time.
Episode 5:
+ Jung-hoo fights thirty guys. And wins.
+ Young-shin recovering and immediately being so very concerned about Bong-soo (and Sad Unnie) is the sweetest thing.
+ The scene where Moon-ho is feeling Myung-hee out about "what if your daughter was alive?" is the most painful thing. I actually had to pause the scene for a bit because it hurt so much to see her like that.
+ It's reasonable for Young-shin to assume that Moon-ho is the kind of guy who throws his weight around and takes credit for the work of other people. It's sad but understandable that he doesn't correct her. She is naive in thinking that she hasn't put herself and Sad Unnie into a lot of danger.
+ It's very interesting that the cemetery got in touch with Moon-ho about moving the grave, not Moon-shik. Even if Myung-hee decided to entrust the grave to Moon-ho, I just don't buy that Moon-shik would allow something like that to be outside his control. I wonder if some kind of administrative mistake was made? Or maybe the person who opened the coffin and found it empty was like, "Uh...I better contact someone else about this."
+ It's also interesting that Moon-ho doesn't hesitate for a moment to think that his brother was behind the deaths. He clearly knows what kind of person Moon-shik has become, even if Myung-hee hasn't been able to see it. (Kept as she is in her gilded cage.) You have to wonder at one point he became aware that his hyung was this kind of person.
+ Min-ja is trying to get Jung-hoo to protect himself in the only way possible in their world--by looking out for himself first. It's funny that when she sees him take his first tentative steps towards caring about how his actions might affect the safety of others, her immediate response is, "Is she really that pretty?" And of course Park Min-young is very pretty, but that's not what's drawing Jung-hoo to Young-shin. He can admit to himself that he's entranced by her courage, but I think her joy is something he can't admit to himself that he wants.
+ His lines about how every human looks the same to him until Young-shin...
+ And then we get the confession that the only things that make him cry are nature documentaries. He's so isolated.
+ The look on Jung-hoo's face when he sees a real-live meal on the table at Young-shin's and knows he's going to get to eat it...and then when he gets to eat his favorite dish! Baby!
+ Moon-ho quitting via coffee cup holder...he's such a smart ass.
+ I had totally forgotten that Min-ja actually brings up Superman...and Jung-hoo doesn't know who that is! "Hey! There's a lot of -man!"
+ Min-ja/knitting otp. Gah, I love her!
+ The way Jung-hoo keeps dropping into banmal and then denying that he did!
+ The scene with the president of the construction company is so brutal and scary. I'm glad we have the levity of Team Healer's intervention outside to interrupt it.
+ I had forgotten that this most iconic scene happens so early in the show. The way he looks at her already!!!!
Episode 6:
+ This episode does SO much rehashing at the start--it's very annoying.
+ This little punk, stealing the handcuffs right from the officer's pocket!
+ This show is so good at showing the ways that the evil will blame the victims and try to convince the world that they are being victimized.
+ My heart warms when Young-shin asks if Moon-ho remembers her and he says, "I remember you."
+ Moon-ho being a smart ass to Young-shin to find out how serious she is about it. He's such an annoying big brother. But I love when he tells Min-jae that he wants to "raise" Young-shin.
+ Speaking of Min-jae: girl, find you another man.
+ Min-ja's ridiculous aegyo voicemail message is hilarious.
+ I LOVE that she's sensitive about her background as a detective. And that she calls out all the adults in Jung-hoo's life for abandoning him.
+ The phone conversation between Young-shin and Jung-hoo while she doesn't know he's within sight distance...this is such stuff as ships are made on. Some of the best shippy scenes ever!
+ AND THEN SHE SAYS SHE FEELS COMFORTABLE WITH HIM...LIKE THEY'RE SISTERS. I will never recover!
+ I'd forgotten about this Elder guy. Ugh.
+ The conversation between Moon-shik and Myung-hee reveals that he has justified everything to himself because he thinks he has to have power and once he has enough, then he can do what's right. It's foolish, but a lot of people fall into that trap.
+ And Moon-ho just buys the building and the newspaper. He's so ridiculous. I am very fond.
