I really think that it's just a flat-out good show. It doesn't coast on nostalgia at all and it's not pulpy--it really doesn't feel much like Star Wars except for the visuals. In fact, I wouldn't say you'd have to have seen any Star Wars to understand everything? It's very much its own thing.

I would say: watch the first three episodes and see if it works for you. You might not like it, but it won't be because it's Star Wars, it'll just be because no show works for everyone!
