Arabesk is very confusing to read, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. It would be just the level of identity porn and mindfuckery that would work on an audience as a limited series (say 12 episodes) today when you don't need fillers. (Caveat that the book is 20 years old and I read it around 15 years ago, so I have no clue how well it holds up scrutiny today.)
