It's also important to acknowledge that we have all accepted most of the most insidious things about the internet's current design because they're convenient. We're all busy people with lots to do. Having content pumped to us with minimal effort is just so easy! That's why we accept it!
And then there's the issue of accepting our data being sold all the time. We accept that because that means we get to use whatever platform for "free." On the surface, it can feel like a fair exchange. I don't believe it is, but I do understand why we've all taken the path of least resistance re: just about everything to do with the internet.
