Hello, Yuletide Writer!

Thanks in advance for the story! In my experience, the writing is the most enjoyable part of the Yuletide experience, so I really hope that you have a good time working on the story.

I've included some specific prompts below simply because I know that they can sometimes be helpful, but I will not mind at all if you ignore all of them and go in a different direction that I haven't suggested. read more )
I just made my Yuletide noms, squeaking in with like two hours left before the deadline, and I really wish there was a way you could see what has been approved before you do it, you know?

After all that worrying about it, I did it on the fly, and actually that was probably the best thing to do, because the only thing I absolutely knew I wanted to request was Shut Up Flower Boy Band (I want something involving Ji Hyuk, Su Ah, Hyun Soo and/or Ye Rim in any combination at all). I decided to go with one book and one Western TV show to round out my noms, and since the book I really want fic on (M.M. Kaye's out of print 600 page epic Shadow of the Moon) I know I will never get fic on, I went with Mara Daughter of the Nile aka the book I have read most often in my life aka the book that dominated my middle and high school years. For TV show I selected Designing Women, though I'm hoping/assuming that Happy Endings got nommed because I might ask for Jane/Brad fic because PERFECT TELEVISION MARRIEDS.

And now that I think about it, I wish I'd nommed The Thin Man because it occurs to me that what I really want is Nick and Nora fic. But it's too late now, I suppose. Oh, well.

[eta] Anybody with an AO3 account who isn't participating this year who would be willing to nominate it for me?

I have NO IDEA how I'm going to narrow down my Yuletide requests this year and settle on the limited number of fandoms (is it 3 this year again?). There are so many new things that I fell in love with! I'm agonizing over it as we speak! HOW TO CHOOOOOOSE?
Now that Yuletide authors have been revealed, I can post mine over here.

Title: they that go down to the sea in ships

Hello, wonderful person who is assigned to write me a Yuletide fic!

Thanks in advance for the story! In my experience, the writing is the most enjoyable part of the Yuletide experience, so I really hope that you have a good time working on the story.

cut for thoughts and links and such )

I hope this post is helpful to you, and again, I hope you have fun writing your fic! Thanks for writing for me and for having great taste in fandoms. Happy Yuletide!
1. Watching clips from movies from our childhood with Lil Sis (who LIVES WITH ME NOW YAY!) on youtube and laughing hysterically

and

2. Planning how we're going to blow up all of our pictures from Europe and cover our walls with them

and

3. WRITING YULETIDE MADNESS fics! Woot!

I hope y'all are having a lovely Christmas Eve and have an even better day tomorrow!

So I've been kind of absent of late. Between new job, NaNoWriMo (which is going pretty well! Post about that to come, hopefully!) and busy family-ness, I just don't really have the time or energy to post a whole lot. Basically, by the time I get settled at home, I'm so tired that all I have the energy to do is reblog pictures of pretty people on tumblr, because that takes zero thought.

But I've been trying to keep up with y'all's posts, so there's that, but, once again, I am hopelessly behind in replying to comments in this here blog. Hopefully I can catch up with that very soon.

I've got a few fics ideas stewing that I might have some time to work on after November's over, and there's also YULETIDE OMG MY FAVORITE FANDOM ACTIVITY OF THE YEEEEEAR. Speaking of which, if you haven't signed up, it's not quite too late! You still have a few hours left! Get on it! Y'all, I signed up to write YA books of wonderfulness from my childhood! Heartbreaking and/or silly movies! Random Korean television! No matter what my assignment is, I will be psyched about it. Which reminds me that I need to finish up my "Dear Yuletide writer" letter stat.

Also! I have my next casting/picspam planned! Basically, now that I've started this, I will never stop. I have made a monster of my own self.

Oh, and I have a big big big project I need to start working on for January--keep watching this space for more info (and a couple of you keep watching your email boxes for requests for help--you know who you are, even if you have no idea what I'm talking about. If you think I'm talking about you, I am. I can vague that up a bit more, if you like. And yes, that's a hint).

I hope y'all are all doing well and that the gross weather (if you're having gross weather) hasn't been getting you down. Feel free to let me know what you're up to. Hopefully once the month is over, I'll be able to plunge back into lj life. I miss it.

Oh, and the last and most important thing (of the moment): in an hour and a half I will be sitting in a movie theater waiting for Harry Potter to start! My ticket is in my wallet! YAY YAY YAY!

Oh, and Emmie--I can't access my email here, but I wanted you to know that I got your email before I left for work this morning and I can't wait to check it out! Yay some more!

Wait--so we only get to offer up to 10 fandoms we'd be willing to write for for Yuletide this year? Well, that kind of sucks. I liked last year where I signed up for like twenty-five.

Taking a moment while I have internet to post this. It is, in fact, my Yuletide Entry! I've also put it up here at AO3.

Title: Of Ill-Advised Imprints and Rather Fetching Ewok Queens
Fandom: Dollhouse
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] rodlox for Yuletide 2009.
Characters/Pairings: Topher Brink, Sierra, Victor, Ivy, Boyd Langton, Adelle DeWitt, Claire Saunders
Rating: PG
Genre: Humor, Gen
Timeline: Set shortly after the pilot episode.
Disclaimer: None of it (from either fandom) is mine. Well, Sir Percival might be....
A/N: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] snickfic for invaluable insight into Topher's voice and for her sympathy for poor, long-suffering Ivy; to [livejournal.com profile] angearia for being, as usual, totally and completely awesome and providing some truly awesome lines and even better insight, and for her boundless enthusiasm; and to the evil genius that is [livejournal.com profile] madcap_shiny for the title. Thank you, ladies!
Inspired by: For those of you who aren't in the know, the idea for this fic came from an interview with Dichen Lachman. You can check it out here.
Summary: Who decided giving Topher Brink the ability to design people's personalities was a good idea again?

Dear Yuletide Writer,

Thank you so much for volunteering to write a story for me! I’m so looking forward to seeing what you come up with! You obviously have amazing taste in fandoms ;), and I’m sure you’ll create something brilliant. I hope some of my incoherent ramblings below are useful to you; if they aren’t, feel free to ignore any of them you wish.

I finally finished signing up for Yultide--it took FOR-E-VER. Probably because I signed up to write about fifteen or twenty different fandoms. I'm honestly more excited about the writing than than I am the receiving. There were so many fandoms listed that I never would have thought of writing for, but that I love more than words, and each time I saw a new fandom I was familiar with pop up, I got about million ideas in my head. It's so lovely! I can't wait! Yay writing!
