I haven't done these in a while!

+ Tell me: If I was in a tv show how do you guys think I would get mischaracterized by the fans?

+ I'll tell you: Pick a trope from this list and provide a fandom/pairing and I'll tell you something about the story I'd write for that combination (i.e. write a snippet from the story or write not!fic or tell you the title and summary for the story I would write)

1. genderswap
2. bodyswap
3. drunk!fic
4. huddling for warmth
5. pretending to be dating/married
6. secretly a virgin stuck in an elevator
7. amnesia
8. cross-dressing meet the parents! (or the metaphoric equivalent) [unless it's Infinite--I'll tell you about cross-dressing only if it involves them]
9. forced to share a bed
10. truth or dare
11. historical AU
12. accidental-baby-acquisition
13. apocalypse fic
14. telepathy curtain fic
15. High School / College AU

Tumblr is down. I am bereft. I was looking forward to hanging out on pervingoninfinite all day and becoming ridiculously sexually frustrated.
SOMETIMES I LIKE LISTS, OKAY?

HEY-YO! I have a lot of fandoms. And a lot of feelings. About people interacting. Here are some of them. [Note: you could probably disagree with me about every single item on this list and would could still be friends, as long as you're respectful.]

fandoms, characters, ships )

A random comment by [livejournal.com profile] mollivanders gave me an idea for a meme:

Give me a text (book, TV show, movie, etc.) and I will tell you what I would have done differently if I had written it. Not little details, necessarily, but big plot or theme or characterization choices.

Give me a TV show and I will answer:
* Favorite episode and why.
* Campiest / crackiest / it’s-terrible-but-I-still-love-it episode / scene.
* Best episode / scene for my favorite character.
* Best episode / scene for my favorite ship.
* Best episode / scene for minor characters.
* Best episode / scene for my favorite themes / theories / headcanons.
* Overall best-written episode.

Good morning! I have some random thoughts to share with you because this is my journal.

+ One of the things I love about City Hunter (besides its general EXCELLENCE) is that people actually figure things out. So many plots rest on people being stupid and not seeing what’s right in front of their faces, and I like that this show lets people be smart and put things together LONG before most shows would let them. Then it develops NEW ways to generate suspense instead of just dragging out the old ones forever to the point of disbelief. Good job, show!

+ Lee Yoon Sung has a sense of humor, and I like that about him. Yeah, he’s typically angsty, but he also is a goof. I imagine if he’d been raised by his mother, he would just be a goof all of the time. Favorite lines include: “I care a lot about my hairstyle” and “You wrinkled my clothes.” There was also something he said the first time he took a shower at Na Na’s house that was HILARIOUS but I cannot now remember what it was. Alas.

+ Kim Na Na is one of the most excellent heroines EVER. She’s brave and capable and kick-ass, but she’s also really emotionally open, and I love that. I am forever in love with [Unknown site tag]when she tells Yoon Sung that her feelings are hers, and she’s not going to force them on him but that he needs to cut it out with the being a jerk in attempts to push her away. Best thing EVER.

+ I am seriously considering shelling out $70 so I can own Mawang on DVD. We’ll see if I actually do it.

+ I am getting really giddy-excited in anticipation for The Borgias. LUCREZIA AND CESARE MY LOOOOOOVES. And Juan’s stupid face!

+ Also getting excited about Hunger Games! I have so many mixed feelings about the books, but I did love the first one straight-up, and the BFF and I are going for her birthday, so I am pleased. Also, Katniss remains awesome, even if her books don’t quite measure up to her.

+ My novel writing continues to go wonderfully. I shall not say more for fear of talking myself into a bad place. But I really do actually think I could get this one published, y’all. After a TON of cleaning it up, obviously.

+ On the other hand, I have written NO FIC in what feels like forever, so y'all should encourage me to do that.

And now for some FMM-related thoughts:

+ The Happy Endings poll makes me happiest of all the polls because the love is spread so evenly amongst the characters (except for Dave. Sorry, Dave). A show where everyone is that loved? Very rare, and it makes me happy.

+ Robin is just baaaarely beating Barney. I am going to cry if he beats her. I really am.

+ I don’t understand why Chris wins the Skins spot EVERY YEAR. I love Chris, but he’s that beloved? I just don’t know. I voted for Grace because of REASONS. But I also could have gone with Michelle or Tony.

+ I wish all the Damon voters would switch their votes to Elena as Damon CLEARLY would want them to do. I love Caroline like mad, and I will campaign for her against loads of people, but I just wish Elena could win this year. *wistful*

+ I wish I could come up with a fandom institution as awesome as the Fandom March Madness or Yuletide because the idea of bringing that much joy to fandom just makes me happy.

And let's be honest, people. It is the Year of Knope.

HERE ARE SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS IT IS MARCH I GET TO LOSE MY MIND.

Here is a list of shows that I don't watch, so I'm unsure of who to vote for. If you're particularly passionate about a certain character (especially if it's a lady), let me know and I will take your passion into consideration when I go back and vote in these categories. YAY!

+ Archer
+ The Big Bang Theory—by which I mean, tell me which character has the best chance of beating Sheldon, please
+ It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
+ New Girl (who is NOT a douche?)
+ Avatar: The Last Airbender (which I have watched some of the first season of, but not enough to have super passionate feelings about anyone)
+ Awkward
+ The O.C.
+ Pretty Little Liars (Kyrie? You watch that, don't you?)
+ Teen Wolf
+ American Horror Story
+ Haven
+ Boardwalk Empire
+ The Wire (I know, I know! But I will watch it one day!)

My Glee vote has gone to Ms. Santana Lopez, which I'm sure most of you will appreciate. I did it for y'all. Because I love you.

My Young Justice vote is reserved for whoever Kyrie tells me to vote for. The end.

I am so impressed with the lady-love in Doctor Who. It's Donna-Amy-Martha right now AND LOOK AT YOUR GOOD TASTE, FANDOM. I could have voted for any of those ladies and been happy! I went with Martha, but seriously: it could have been any of them. Or River.

If you don’t watch Friday Night Lights: VOTE FOR TAMI TAYLOR. She is right 100% of the time. Just ask her husband. And she single-handedly keeps Dillon, Texas from falling to pieces. She is Wonder Woman.

Photobucket

Hardest choice for me? Happy Endings. I went with Brad because I've been remembering and laughing about his Dentist Dance all day, but I could go any direction there (except Dave).

I will be switching my HIMYM vote over from Marshall to Robin. Because I LOVE the idea of her beating Barney, lbr.

I will forever be sad that Emily Gilmore will never win the GG category. *tear*

IF YOU VOTED FOR FRANK GALLAGHER I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU HE IS ACTUALLY THE WORST CHARACTER I HAVE EVER SEEN MY OTP FOR THAT SHOW IS FRANK/DEATH.

Warning: this post is a mess. Just…a mess. Proceed with caution.

There’s spoilers here on things that have already aired, but everything’s labeled with its fandom, so just skip over anything you haven’t seen all of yet.

So a couple of days ago when that “ask me a fandom-y question!” meme was going around, I ended up asking [livejournal.com profile] ever_neutral what her top five this-should-just-end-in-a-threesome fandom situations were (because: duh) and the answers were awesome and it got me to thinking about love triangles.

Because mostly I find them annoying. Mostly I think they’re there to Create! Drama! and there’s no real question of who’s going to end up with whom (I mean, seriously, did anyone in the world actually think that Bella was going to choose Jacob over Edward? I mean really? Ship that all you want, but I don't think the most naive person alive would think there was a chance Bella would choose Jacob) and it’s just this sort of lazy device to Keep the Starcrossed Lovers apart. I start to yawn.

But! Occasionally it’s done Actually Well! My basic philosophy on stories in general is that Almost Anything can be awesome if it’s Done Well (there are a few things I have no interest in even if they’re done well, but that list is veeeery short). And that occasionally does apply even to the dread Love Triangles (or Squares).

Of course the key to them being good is that they have to actually come from the characters and not from the demands of the plot (I guess this is a theme with me lately). Now there are some that fall into that category, where everyone’s acting in character, but I am still annoyed by the triangle because I don’t care about 1/3 of said triangle. If I have no investment in that character, I find it hard to invest in their role in the triangle. So. Mostly my favorites are ones where A) everyone is acting in character and B) I love (or at least like) everyone.

cut for length and fail )

So now you should tell me about which love triangles work for you and which you hate and why. We should talk about this.

From [livejournal.com profile] fannish5:

Five characters who are annoying, but that you love anyway

1. Andrew Wells. He's whiny and has little social skills and is totally ridiculous and never seems to realize how serious things are, and I should hate him. Instead, I love him madly. I also may relate to him sometimes. Geek solidarity!
2. Dawn Summers. Actually, yes, I do think she's annoying in S5 at times. That's kind of the point seeing as she's the little sister (sorry, little sisters of the world, but us big sisters know that you can be hella annoying. We still love you anyway).
3. Tom Haverford. He would drive me craaaaazy in real life, but somehow Aziz Ansari just imbues him with this essence that just reminds you of the joy in the universe. (See also: Jean-Ralphio).
4. Nathan Young Ugh. I should hate this kid so much. He's totally obnoxious and way, way too over-the-top and the things that come out of his mouth are completely unacceptable at least 87% of the time. But I'm fond of him anyway and I do not know why.
5. Buddy Garrity. I don't know that I love him, but he's so incredibly well-constructed and I understand him. He's so, so human: he's a fantastic character. But the faces Eric pulls whenever Buddy shows up CRACK ME UP because he annoys Eric so much and Eric, babe, I totally understand.

[eta] Y'all, what is this?

Is this a thing that actually happened in real life or is this from a movie or something? What is going ooooon?

THE BECHDEL TEST COMMENT FICATHONEPISODE II:THE SROMANCE STRIKES BACK

Hello and welcome to the Bechdel Test Comment Ficathon Episode II: The Sromance Strikes Back.

Photobucket

Like my banner I made in five minutes in Microsoft Paint while at work? Yeah, I know you do.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen-who-love-ladies. The comment fic-a-thon devoted to the interactions between your favorite female characters is BACK (hopefully in an Original Trilogy, not a Prequel Trilogy kind of way).

details behind the cut--please read )

BANNERS. USE THEM.
Banners, as they're accumulated, can be found here. You're free to use any you wish. You can also use the less-than-impressive one I made up at the top. But hopefully we'll have some better options soon.

In addition, any other banners from any fandom anyone wants to make (featuring two or more ladies from a given canon, please) are greatly appreciated. Link to them in the comments here, please.

[Instructions on using the banners for those of you who are not so technologically-savvy: You can hotlink to these banners. Copy/paste the following and then plug in the link to the banner where it says "URLOFIMAGEHERE." Pretty simple, really]

OR

do a nice simple text link like the one at the top of the page by copy/pasting the text below:

That should cover just about everything, but if I missed something, please do ask/comment below.

And...go!

[eta] Master List now up!
