For Day Two of my celebration of the Summers sisters, I have graphics! Or, at least I tried to make graphics. I'm still stumbling through learning how to do that. (And [livejournal.com profile] ladyofthelog, your tutorial was way helpful!) But I tried!

Yay! The lady celebration has begun! And of course I'm celebrating my Summers girls, because they are the actual best.

I'll be mostly focusing on the last three seasons of the show (with possibly some cameos by the comics and maybe even some pre-series stuff) because A) that's when Dawn's actually around, and B) that's when most people most hate Buffy. Oh, and there's the added bonus of the later seasons being my favorite. So it all works out well.

Today's offering: a fic. A Christmas-fic, to be precise. Which I wrote kind of all in one sitting? And it hasn't been betaed, so you'll forgive me if it's a bit rough in spots.

Also, I literally didn't figure out that posting started today until...a few hours ago, so...this is not my best work. Just fyi.

Title: help to make the season bright
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

So after weeks of stressing; working on and then rejecting not one, not two, but three separate stories; whipping this up out of thin air yesterday; and then getting it whipped into shape by betas who clearly know way more about what they're doing than I do, I have posted my [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy entry.

Whew!

Title: Basiare
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy
Rating: PG
Timeperiod: post-“Not Fade Away”
Warning: some Buffy/Other
Thanks to: My betas: [livejournal.com profile] angearia for perspective, encouragement, and some of the best bits of dialogue; and [livejournal.com profile] snickfic for squee, snark, clarity, and saying, “Um, I think this needs a shape. You know, an actual arc.” Y’all constantly save me from myself. Thanks as well to [livejournal.com profile] quinara for Latin-y type help with the title.
A/N: This is a prequel to Infinitas Infinitio Infinitus. It’s not necessary that you read that fic, though you might enjoy it after you’ve finished this one. :D
Summary: “She didn’t kiss him hello, and she doesn’t kiss him goodbye.” This is Buffy and this is Spike and they’ve never done anything the easy way.

Let's do this thing!

THE THREESentenceFIC-A-THON

In this challenge, you write a fic consisting of only three sentences in response to a prompt. All fandoms/characters/ships are welcome, and you can leave as many prompts and write as many fic as you like. Please leave only one prompt per comment, though there can be multiple fic "answers" to each prompt.

Format:

Fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence

Please go here for more in-depth instructions, examples, and to ask any questions or voice any concerns you may have.

Pimp far and wide, please! The more participants, the more fic! And if someone wants to whip up a banner or something, that would be great!

Go forth and fic!

So. Probably tonight, possibly tomorrow, I’m going to start the Three Sentence Fic-a-Thon here. For those of you who haven’t ever participated in one, you should take a look over here to see how it works.

It’s fairly straightforward: someone posts a prompt [Fandom – Pairing/Character – Prompt format] of any kind, and if you’re interested, you write a tiny story in three sentences in reply. You can post as many prompts as you wish and answer as many as strike your fancy. But remember: only three sentences! Run-ons are acceptable, but try to keep in mind that you are not William Faulkner and clarity is key! Also, creative use of punctuation is encouraged (I’m more than mildly obsessed with punctuation, so this is like a dream come true for me).

For those of you who don’t write much (or at all), this is a great way to stick your toes in the water—no commitment, really; the limits aren’t as strict as that of drabbles; and it’s fun! Really, it’s ideal for people without a lot of writing experience, and I really encourage you to put your trepidation aside and give it a try. You’ll like it!

Any fandom/any pairing/any character. Be creative! If you haven’t figured it out by now, I am not a one-fandom girl. So if you’re mostly here for the Buffy (as many of you are), but you’ve always had an abiding love of Lord of the Rings: post a prompt! Odds are someone else loves that fandom, too! (And yes, [livejournal.com profile] redsilverchains, I will write you Tony/Michelle.)

I’m hopefully going to post one of those little scrolly boxes that let you paste html code so that you can copy/paste it into your journals (if I can figure out how to do that. Guidance, anyone?). Please, please pimp it out. These things only work if there’s quite a bit of participation. I know a few of you run communities—if you want, you can pimp it there, too. Whatever works!

It will go on until interest fizzles out; the last one lasted for nearly two months. So if you can’t participate this weekend, show up next week sometime! If things go as I hope, it’ll still be going on.

This is the first time I’ve hosted something like this, so I’m both nervous and excited. We’ll see how it goes!

If you think you might be interested in joining in, drop me a line in the comments, just so I can get a feel for it. This isn't a commitment, just an indication of interest.

Yay!
Taking a moment while I have internet to post this. It is, in fact, my Yuletide Entry! I've also put it up here at AO3.

Title: Of Ill-Advised Imprints and Rather Fetching Ewok Queens
Fandom: Dollhouse
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] rodlox for Yuletide 2009.
Characters/Pairings: Topher Brink, Sierra, Victor, Ivy, Boyd Langton, Adelle DeWitt, Claire Saunders
Rating: PG
Genre: Humor, Gen
Timeline: Set shortly after the pilot episode.
Disclaimer: None of it (from either fandom) is mine. Well, Sir Percival might be....
A/N: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] snickfic for invaluable insight into Topher's voice and for her sympathy for poor, long-suffering Ivy; to [livejournal.com profile] angearia for being, as usual, totally and completely awesome and providing some truly awesome lines and even better insight, and for her boundless enthusiasm; and to the evil genius that is [livejournal.com profile] madcap_shiny for the title. Thank you, ladies!
Inspired by: For those of you who aren't in the know, the idea for this fic came from an interview with Dichen Lachman. You can check it out here.
Summary: Who decided giving Topher Brink the ability to design people's personalities was a good idea again?

Y'all! There's an all-fandom Three Sentence Fic-a-thon going on here and y'all should all go participate immediately. Immediately.

My first (of hopefully many) prompt reply is here: Edmund, Narnia, maps. That's right.

And [livejournal.com profile] redsilverchains has invented the genius-pairing-you-never-knew-you-wanted: Sara Crewe/Colin Craven. THAT'S RIGHT. Read it here.
Yes, that's right! It's complete! *dances with glee*

But before we get to the actual chapter, I need to ask a question. I hate to be a tease about this, but I'm considering writing a sequel to this story. Starring Dawn and a certain someone who may be more than he seems (also, probably with some Andrew and Lessie love. Because I love them). I just wanted to know if anyone would be interested in reading such a story. It would probably be very plotty, focused on Dawn's Keyness and the Immortal's backstory, as well as on their romance....There probably wouldn't be much Buffy and Spike (though I'd be positively shocked if they didn't show up for at least a few cameos), either.

Again, I'm not positive that I'm going to do it, and if I do, it might be quite some time before I get around to it, as I have other obligations that are quite time-consuming.

So my question is three-pronged: A) Would your read it, B) Would you read it even if I don't actually write it for a while, and C) Would those of you who don't watch my journal like for me to notify you via PM should I ever actually post said story.

Let me know! Now, on to the story!

Title: Love and Blackmail
Fandom: Buffyverse
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] good__evil's Art-a-Thon
Rating: PG-13
Timeline: post-"Not Fade Away"
Characters/Pairings: Dawn, Buffy/Spike, Andrew, the Immortal, OC Slayer
Warnings: Dawn worship. You heard me.
Installment: Three of three.
A/N: Title and summary quote come from "The Pomegranate" by Eavan Boland, one of my favorite poets. Artwork by the talented [livejournal.com profile] amyxaphania. And many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] angearia for enthusiasm, punishment ideas (you are as brilliantly devious as Dawn), and major help in revamping (heh!) the epilogue. I honestly couldn't have done it without you.
Summary: "Love and blackmail are the gist of it." Dawn knows exactly what her sister needs in order to move on after Sunnydale--and exactly how to make it happen.

Previous chapters here and here.

Part Three )
About a thousand and a half years ago, I posted the first part of a fic for [livejournal.com profile] good__evil"s Art-a-thon. You may or may not remember it. I subsequently got completely distracted by a million other things and I've only just recently returned to it. I apologize profusely that it took so long; I've had a blast writing it, and with some encouragement (*coughangeariacough*), I'm back with the next chapter! And I'm already working on the one after that!

So! On to the next chapter of Dawn-worship!

Title: Love and Blackmail
Fandom: Buffyverse
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] good__evil's Art-a-Thon
Rating: PG-13
Timeline: post-"Not Fade Away"
Characters/Pairings: Dawn, Buffy/Spike, Andrew, the Immortal, OC Slayer
Warnings: Dawn worship. You heard me.
Installment: Two of three.
A/N: Title and summary quote come from "The Pomegranate" by Eavan Boland, one of my favorite poets. Artwork by the talented [livejournal.com profile] amyxaphania. And many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] angearia for characterization thoughts, polka suggestions, and understanding my Immortal (hee!) even better than I do. Most of his better lines (and some of Dawn's!) in this section are her handiwork. Thanks so much!
Summary: "Love and blackmail are the gist of it." Dawn knows exactly what her sister needs in order to move on after Sunnydale--and exactly how to make it happen.

I nearly killed myself writing this, so I figure I might as well post it here as well and hopefully get some more feedback.

Title: Prism
Fandom: Buffyverse
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy
Characters/Pairings: Buffy/Spike, Molly, Vi, Chao-Ahn, Amanda, Rona, Kennedy, Faith
Genre: Angst, comedy, drama, romance
Rating: PG-13
Timeline: Season 7, episodes "Bring on the Night" through "Chosen"
Disclaimer: Joss is boss.
Note: This is a companion piece of sorts to Kaleidoscope. If the ending leaves you wanting, head over and check out "Kaleidoscope" as the sequel.
Thanks to: [livejournal.com profile] angearia for invaluable insight into what makes the each of the Potentials tick, for advice on how to make their voices distinct, for ideas on how to write a character who doesn't speak English, and for various other priceless thinky thoughts that no doubt saved me from total meltdown; [livejournal.com profile] enisy for finding me an appropriate anime character; [livejournal.com profile] snickfic for coming through at the last minute and saving me from some potentially (heh) embarrassing mistakes; and [livejournal.com profile] ineffort for being the greatest person ever and for reactions. Any errors or weaknesses are mine alone.
Summary: Sometimes it takes an outsider's perspective to really see the truth of things. Other times...well, people do say that context is everything, right?

This is the greatest thing that's ever been invented in the history of ever, and y'all should all do it. I'm so excited! My requests are here. Some of them are incredibly esoteric (I don't expect anyone to actually do the Press Gang or William/Lux stuff, but I threw them out there just in case). Now I have to decide whose I'm going to fulfill!

Can I also just add that I'm tickled pink at all the Leverage requests, especially the Parker/Hardison ones? I ship them so hard. I can't wait to go back through when everyone's written their stuff!

So there's one of those fic meme things going on here, very fun as usual.

Someone prompted with Draco/Blair, so I finally got to write them! So incredibly fun, and they're totally my crossover pairing of choice at the moment. Sooo...if you're interested:

French Suite
Fandoms: Gossip Girl/Harry Potter
Characters/Pairing: Blair Waldorf/Draco Malfoy
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 663
Summary: "I think that I think too hard."

I need a title! So, anyone who can help me come up with one wins cookies! I make snickerdoodles, just like Veronica!*

*This does not mean that you'll actually get cookies. It's a metaphor for me loving you a lot!
Another location drabble turned [livejournal.com profile] choco_cherries  entry.  [livejournal.com profile] ineffort, that devious genius, came up with the most random crossover pairing ever, and I had to try it out.

Title:  Rebel Waltz
Fandoms:  Gossip Girl, Veronica Mars
Characters/Pairing: Jenny Humphrey, Vincent "Butters" Clemmons
Rating:  PG
Wordcount:  397
Written for[livejournal.com profile] choco_cherries  Week 29
Summary:  "Tomorrow she'll probably shake her head at herself, wondering what she was thinking."

( Jul. 27th, 2009 09:54 pm)
This one's for [livejournal.com profile] eldritchowl , who wanted Dean Winchester and Dawn Summers, in a laundromat.  It's been a while since I've written Dean, so this may be a bit rough, but Dean/Dawn is an inspired pairing--he would totally go for her.  Little Dawnie grew up sexy and smart.

I'm turning this into a [livejournal.com profile] choco_cherries  entry, too.  Hope you don't mind!

Title: Spin Cycle
Fandoms:  Supernatural/Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Characters/Pairing:  Dean Winchester/Dawn Summers
Rating:  PG
Wordcount:  464
Written for:  [livejournal.com profile] choco_cherries  Week 29
Summary:  She's perched on top of a washing machine when the truth comes out.

For [profile] xc_runner50 , who wanted  Spike/Buffy, Satsu the Ex Spike didn't know about, but wished he did ;) Location is your choice.

This one isn't exactly location-y (it could happen anywhere), but it was really, really fun, plus there's a reference to L.A., so I like to think that satisfies the requirements.

References to the comics, which I haven't read, so sorry if I mess something up.  (Is the "ma'am" thing right?  I felt like I read that once upon a time.)

Enjoy!
