I've never had any desire to write an All Human fic, but now I'm sort of wanting to write a sci-fi story where Buffy is a general and Spike is her mortal enemy-turned-second-in-command. I don't even know what this fic would be about, I just love that dynamic between them. UGH.

I will not start this fic. November and NaNoWriMo are mere days away, and I have to focus on my novel.

HAHAHA MY MOODTHEME. Every time I think about changing it, something like that will pop up and I'll remember why I love it in the first place.

Although now it's occuring to me that it would also be awesome to write a fantasy story where she's a badass warrior queen and he's the head of her royal guard. ALSO HOT.

CANNOT. If I ever want to get published I have to WORK ON MY NOVEL. But maybe after the new year....

I feel your pain on novel vs. fic!!

That is a very delicious plot bunny, though. *g* Would they be mortal enemies b/c Spike was evil or because they just fought on opposite sides of a war, etc.? In Star Trek: Voyager, two opposing crews have to team up, and the "winning" captain makes the other captain her second-in-command to try to decrease hostility between the crews.

*mind wanders* Buffy wouldn't trust him and would always be questioning his motives, and he'd slowly fall in love with her and become the best second-in-command ever, and she'd be like, "What are your nefarious plans??", and he'd be like, "Nothing!" sadface!... Mmm mmm mmm.

If you don't mind me asking, is your NaNo novel the Scarlet Pimpernel in space one or a new one?

I've put the Scarlet Pimpernel one on hiatus for a while since there are things I need to figure out about how to deal with it before I finish it. I'll be working on a post-apocalyptic young adult novel instead. It's kiiiiiinda vaguely like "Scarlet and Midnight"? Just in the sense that I'm going to use a lot of those locations and such.

I WANT THIS FIC!

Okay, my ish with most AH fics I've seen is that they have completely different dynamics than canon does. Oh, Spike and Buffy are just regular high school kids or Spike's in a rock band and Buffy's a fan or Spike's the older neighbor next door or whatnot. No! Give me something that echoes their Slayer/Vampire adversarial relationship! Spy vs spy or whatnot. THAT'S WHAT I CRAVE!

I've even considered writing such a fic, myself, but no! No, I'm finishing up my WIPS, not starting whole new fanfics! *resolve face*

So, clearly, the task falls to you. You have all my faith, grasshopper.

Or, you know, she's a firefighter and he's a slam poet competitor. But no one will ever write that one.

I really doubt I'll ever get around to writing this. I just don't think I have the staying power for a long fic...and this one would need to be long. But if someone else wants to adopt the bunny, it's cool with me!

Wait. I've read a spy vs. spy AH fic. But I don't remember what it was called.

Buffy and Gunn were partners in the FBI's organized crime unit, and they were infiltrating Spike's organization--but Spike actually worked for Angel.

Have you read that one?

Ah! I hate this kind of dilemma. Maybe you could write a few frenzied drabbles / an outline / some dialogue now, before November, then continue with the actual fic in December? Because I'd read that fic onto atoms, but on the other hand NaNo -> original novel -> publishing -> money and I am always a fan of the money.

Also, sci-fi?! Like, ship commanders? Or pioneers? Or or or post-apocalyptic war leaders against the scruffy tyranny of watchers and crusty old vamps?

Alsoalso, lately I've been writing my Happyplace post-Chosen Buffy fic and though I severely doubt it'll ever be finished, I really can't think of a fandom that generates a happier place that BtVS.

(do you have, like, the ultimate post-Chosen scenario in which everyone gets the best possible fates? Are those your Latin Titled Trilogy fics? I think I preferred what happens in Ars Poetica (Ars Poetica <3) but the whole Buffy is immortal thing is still awesome!)
