Part of the reason is that I never learned how to apply it.
This is why it took forever for me to start wearing make-up, too. I always wore lip gloss, because you can't screw that up, but I was very afraid of all the intricate eye make-up and matching skin tones and such. My mom only wears mascara, which is the one thing I definitely don't need, because I have naturally dark lashes.
The only time she helped with make-up when I was growing up was stage make-up, which is totally different and you don't want to look like that when people can see your face close up, lol, so it wasn't terribly instructive.
I have lately started experimenting with eyeliner and eye shadow, mostly because I don't get enough sleep and my eyes look terrible and make-up helps to perk them up. But I'm fine going without it if I'm running late or something.
I am like you - I generally only judge people who wear too much make-up, lol. I admire women who can do their make-up well and it looks gorgeous and natural. If I see someone whose make-up looks nice, I'll usually try to (inconspicuously) study her face to figure out what I like so I can copy it. :)
I also hatehatehatehatehate guys who say they prefer a woman to not wear makeup, but what they really want it for a woman to look entirely perfect and made up...without anyone being able to tell that they're wearing make-up.
Ugh. Yes. This annoys me, too.
T COST FIFTEEN BUCKS. FIFTEEN. FOR ONE TUBE OF LIPSTICK.
Damn, girl! That's not necessary. I buy mine at CVS for around $5. :)
